David Duman

David Duman

Los Angeles Sales

A Bay Area native, David worked in restaurants in Berkeley, including the Bay Area Top 100 restaurant Sea Salt, where he was first exposed to the great wine regions of Europe, especially those from Kermit Lynch. He also spent some time at the legendary East Bay wine shop and wine bar Solano Cellars where he assisted the general manager with events and tastings with distributors, further expanding his knowledge of the diversity of global wine.

After grad school, he moved south and has been an unexpectedly happy Angeleno since 2008. From his first day in Los Angeles he has worked in wine wholesale as a distributor representative, supplier manager, and independent broker while moonlighting on rare occasions at a couple wine bars.

He has represented some of the best specialty wine importers and family wineries in California. He spent four and a half years as a District Manager for Winebow Imports before returning to boutique wine and spirits sales consulting. While he is passionate about wines from all over the world (especially France), he has a particular fondness for the wines of his native California.

David is a graduate of UC Berkeley, has an MFA from San Francisco State, and is a Certified Sake Professional from the Sake Education Council. His writings on wine and food have been published in several venues, including The Huffington Post and Eater.com. David has had stage plays produced at theatres in San Francisco, Oakland, and Los Angeles. While yet to be cast, he has been invited to audition for Jeopardy! three times and hopefully counting.
